Twin Hares.
兩兔傍地走 焉能辨我是雄雌
PERFORMANCE / WEARABLE INSTALLATION / EDIBLE ART
2025
In collaboration with Qiaochu Guo and hosted by
Tianyi Zheng, Twin Hares reimagines the figure
of Mulan through trans embodiment, regional
folklore, and the fading legacy of socialist mythmaking.
Rooted in Tianyi Zheng and Qiaochu
Guo’s shared hometown—once branded by Mulan’s
name and now in cultural decline—the work reflects
on the failure of heroism and the poetics of selfdestruction.
In both trans experience and Chinese
classics, destruction becomes a ritual of resistance and a threshold to rebirth.
