BIO.
Echo Wang (they/he) is a Taiwanese artist based in Amsterdam. Through installation, moving image, and performance, they fabricate migrant deities, displaced shrines, and speculative archives.
"Fabricate" carries three meanings at once: to manufacture objects, to invent histories, and to digitally fabricate forms. Wang treats gods as migrants whose identities evolve through movement across cultures. Recent projects trace the routes of plants, deities, and cultural symbols through histories of colonial circulation, migration, and cultural translation, from VOC archives and eighteenth-century kelenteng temples to a Chinese sweet potato of uncertain origin cultivated in a Dutch park.
